TEMPORARY JOB OPENING - PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Position Description: The Program Director maintains the Gustavus Community

Center, coordinates volunteers, users, and special projects, develops and leads

activities while ensuring sanitation and social distancing requirements appropriate to

COVID-19 prevention.

Pay Rate and Duration: $20 per hour for ~20 hours per week for 9 weeks ending

December 31, 2020. Flexible hours. Position may be extended if additional funding is

secured.

Description: The Program Director oversees the main functions of the Center

including cleaning, coordinating routine maintenance, finding and managing volunteers,

coordinating user groups, tracking the use of the facility, collecting fees, and serving as

the on-site point of contact when the Center is in use. This person is the public face of

the Center and is responsible for ensuring that the Center is a clean, welcoming and

friendly place for users and volunteers.

Duties Include:

Helps find volunteers to do improvement projects identified by the Board

Coordinates delivery and installation of new equipment and supplies

Weekly cleaning of floors, bathrooms, and kitchen

Develops events and leads activities at the Center

Coordinates schedule and sanitation procedures for exercise room

Tracks volunteer hours and acknowledges the efforts of individual volunteers

Assists the GCC Board Treasurer with tracking Center income and expenses

Helps create an operations manual for the new Center.

Qualifications: Must be 18 or older. The successful Program Director is an energetic,

organized creative thinker with the ability to work well independently and with a wide

variety of people. Computer skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills are

essential for interacting with users, soliciting and managing volunteers, and assisting

with event logistics. Janitorial skills will range from cleaning restrooms to knowing when

to call a plumber. Training will be provided for specialized software, mechanical and

audio-visual systems.
